Tempest Hold Off Raiders In Preseason Battle

The Buffalo Tempest traveled to Thousand Islands to take on the Raiders in their only APHL preseason game of the season.  After a period of shaking the rust off, the Tempest were able to open the scoring with a short handed tally on a beautiful shot from Jesse Keicher.  Tom Howlett made a nice play to get the puck up to the streaking Keicher, who hit the top of the circles and rifled a shot past the goaltender.  The Raiders came storming back and potted 2 goals in less than a minute to take a 1 goal lead halfway through the second period.  With about 5 minutes left in the period, Jason melanson capitalized on an incredible 3 on 1 play assisted by Matthew Stewart, and Kyle Dominczak to tie score at 2.

Heading into the 3rd period with the score knotted, the Tempest picked it up a notch and started controlling the play.  Hayden Flynn was able to bang home a Jason Melanson rebound to put the Tempest up for the final time of the game, as they skated home with a 3-2 win.

The Tempest were able to see three of their four goalies in the game, with each playing one period.  All three netminders played great with Kuwik, and Dalton shutting the Raiders out, and Gernold letting 2 get by him.  Jason Melanson earned 2nd star of the game with his 1 goal and 1 assist for a two point effort on the night.

The Buffalo Tempest will open up their regular season on October 25th in Motor City, hoping to foil their plans for their home opener.
